How it works
When compared to other cells, Fatty Cells have a higher sensitivity to colder temperatures. The cold damages Fatty Cells (adipocytes), then they are consumed (phagocytised) by your body’s other cells. These cells, known as phagocytes, neutrophils, and macrophages will eat fat while continuing to increase activity for 30 days after an exposure. The final result is fat disappearance, with a visible thickness reduction from the subcutaneous fat layers.
The thermal heating is created by Radiofrequency and Ultrasound Cavitation, accelerating metabolic activities while assisting new collagen productions within the fibrous layers. This promotes a smooth texture of the targeted region. Ultrasound waves target specific areas, delivering short pulsations which eliminate fat cells, but does not touch any surrounding tissues, blood vessels, or nerves. The patients do not feel pain from the treatment, instead it is described as a hot massage.
Are there known side effects?
This treatment has not shown to cause any major side effects. Some patients have experienced redness, numbness and/or mild discomfort for 1 to 2 hours after treatment.
How is treatment performed?
The target area has a gel drape positioned on it, this helps to protect skin prior to positioning the applicator head on the targeted region of fatty cells. The applicator applies suction, similar to a vacuum to the targeted region and directs cold temperatures to the fatty cells. This results in patients experiencing a gradual cooling sensation. After treatment is finished, the treated area will feel cold and stiff, this lasts around 15 minutes.
Does the procedure require any downtime?
No, the procedure will not require any downtime from your social activities or work schedule. Patients will be able to resume their regular activities immediately after treatment. Treatment sessions usually take an hour or less. The procedure is best for treating back fat and abdominal fat which forms around the inner and outer thigh, torso, double chins, or arms.
Is the Body Contouring System the appropriate approach for me?
The Body Contouring system is not a replacement for liposuction treatments. It is not a suitable treatment for assisting those with obesity, and it is not as effective for patients who have a great amount of skin laxity.
Is there any other thing I should know?
Everyone considering Body Contouring treatments should be getting regular exercise and have a good diet. Treatments will not significantly reduce body weight or a person’s BMI (Body Mass Index). The treatment is not designed or targeting the visceral fat, which is the fat inside the abdomen. Patients should have realistic expectations, while acknowledging multiple treatments may be required to achieve their desired goal. Body contouring is an appropriate approach for speeding up the healing process of liposuction and to achieve smoother, tighter and improved skin. It is common for an annual touch up treatment to be necessary, especially if skin tightening is the main goal.
